Guilty of Texting while Driving, Under the Influence of…

By Bobbie BorrasAugust 15, 2012

Guilty!! I text and drive and justifying myself by saying “I’m not under the influence”… Or am I? As I thought about it, the realization hit me that I really am under the influence…. Extreme?

Think about it if I am going 75mph on I-95 and I am talking to Susie via Text message, then her responses and my replies require my attention. So while I’m texting…..whose driving? Not me…

Oh wait…Now I am! Thank goodness, for the Rumble strips at the edge of the road that just woke me up, from my texting coma…

Not casting stones, I’m just saying that after some serious self evaluation, I have been dangerously putting people at risk. For a stupid reason, I must reply to this Text message immediately! Sounds like I’m addicted to attention….

What does being under the influence mean? Here is what Anton on Yahoo Answers said: “Under the influence of someone dominating your decisions. Meaning someone else has emotional and psychological power over you, thus influencing everything you do. Manipulating you in every way.”

That says a lot could that influence be a something and not a someone?
